Prof. Shabnam Agarwal

Profile

Professor Shabnam Agarwal is a highly dedicated clinician, accomplished educator, and distinguished researcher. She has specialized in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and has served as the Chief Physiotherapist at Belle Vue Clinic in Kolkata for the past 30 years. While committed to clinical practice, her deep passion for professional development and the training of well - qualified graduate physiotherapists in Eastern India led her to pursue an academic career. In 2004, she was appointed Director of Education at Nopany Institute of Healthcare Studies (NIHS), the first private physiotherapy college in Kolkata. She also serves as the Honorary Consultant Physiotherapist to His Excellency, the Governor of West Bengal.

Professor Agarwal is an active member of the editorial boards of several national and international journals and regularly serves as an external examiner for PhD scholars across various universities. Throughout her career, she has received numerous accolades, including awards for best research papers, the CP Nair Oration Award from the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, the Vivek Jyoti Samman (Lifetime Achievement Award) from Swami Vivekananda University, and the Devi Awards from Sahitya Times, recognizing her exceptional contributions to the fields of literature and academic discipline.

With a Master’s degree from the University of Wales, College of Medicine, Cardiff, UK, and a PhD from Curtin University, Western Australia, Dr. Agarwal combines her extensive academic qualifications with her vast experience in both clinical practice and academic leadership.

Profile

Prof. Shabnam Agarwal is a dedicated clinician, innovative educator and serious researcher.

She is a specialist Musculo-skeletal physiotherapist, practicing in Belle Vue Clinic, Kolkata, as the Chief Physiotherapist, since the past 25 years. Although a dedicated clinician, her passion for professional advancement and developing well trained graduate physiotherapists in eastern India led her into Academics, which saw her as Director Education of Nopany Institute of Healthcare Studies (NIHS), the first private physiotherapy college in Kolkata in 2004. As NIHS gradually became a centre of excellence, Dr Agarwal was entrusted with the responsibility of Nopany Institute of Management Studies. She is currently the secretary of the Nopany Foundation trust which runs the two institutions.

She has the distinction of being the honorary consultant Physiotherapist to His Excellency, Governor of West Bengal.

All 303 police personnel were assessed, advised, and counselled.
